Memorial Window
The stained glass window located on the south side of the sanctuary is known as the Memorial Window. The Church, located in Richmond, Indiana was underwritten by Daniel Gray Reid as a memorial to his parents, Daniel Reid and Ann Gray Reid. Their names are inscribed in the glass, along with “Father and Mother”.
The window is an original composition of the figures of Christ and the Four Evangelists. It was designed for the Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church and executed by Tiffany Studios, New York in 1906.
Christ is depicted in the center of the window. With the glass colors chosen, there appears to be an aura surrounding him. He is flanked on either side by the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
The names are listed below, along with the traditional symbols of the gospel writers:
St. Mark, a winged lion,
St. Luke, a winged ox
St. John, a rising eagle
St. Matthew, a divine man,
We invite you to visit during a regularly scheduled performance to view these beautiful windows.
