Reid Center Live! featuring Alisa Clapp-Itnyre, soprano and Lisa Ginn, piano

Reid Center LIVE at Noon! proudly presents a series of free concerts on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 12:00 noon, through May. On Wednesday, October 18th, we will be entertained with Broadway tunes by Alisa Clapp-Itnyre, soprano and Lisa Ginn, piano. Their program is titled ““And This is My Beloved:” Classic Love Songs from the Broadway Stage!”

All events last 45-50 minutes and are open to the public. Admission is free.

Come when you can, go when you must. We're looking forward to seeing you!

Alisa Clapp-Itnyre grew up north of Detroit, Michigan, where she sang at her church and took private voice lessons while pursuing a B.A. in English from Oakland University, Michigan.  She then obtained both a Master’s and Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.  In 1999, she and her husband Ron Itnyre moved to Richmond, Indiana, for her to take a tenure-track position of professor of English at Indiana University East.

She is the author of two monographs on music and literature of the 19th century, Angelic Airs, Subversive Songs: Music as Cultural Discourse in the Victorian Novel (Ohio UP, 2002) and British Hymn Books for Children, 1800-1900: Re-Tuning the History of Childhood (Routledge, 2016).

Alisa began studying voice under Ms. Marjorie Johnstone in 2002 and continues to this day.  She performs and directs at Richmond Civic Theatre; in 2008, she performed Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance and in 2018 was Florence Foster Jenkins in Souvenir.  She sings with the IU East Richmond Chorale and the Chancel Choir at Central United Methodist Church, where she also solos. She would like to thank her voice teacher, Marjorie, for 21 years of life-changing support and encouragement, and to Lisa Ginn for joining her in this concert at The Reid Center.

She dedicates this concert to her father, the Rev. Jon M. Clapp, who introduced her to every classic musical she knows and took her to many when she was growing up.

Lisa Ginn is a Music Therapist and has lived in Richmond for 38 years. After graduating from University of Evansville earning a BMMT, her first job was in the Rehabilitation Department at Richmond State Hospital. She retired from that facility after 34 years.

Lisa is on the board of Richmond Community Orchestra and has worked with students at RHS for solo and ensemble competitions. “Working with students in Marjorie Johnstone’s studio on and off for 30 years has been a pleasure!”

Lisa was the pianist for First Friends Quaker meeting, where she was Director of Music for 18 years. She is a pianist for many Richmond Civic Theatre musical productions. She also plays piano and facilitates music at Centerville United Methodist Church. “Music is my life and God continues to bless me with exceptional opportunities to share my love and joy with so many others.”

Parking: On-street parking is available along North A, 10th St, and 11th St. There is a lot north of the church accessible from the alley between 10th and 11th Streets. The municipal parking lot on 10th St. between Main and North A is a short walk.

Accessibility: We are honored to be caring for such a special facility, but older buildings come with challenges. It is our intention to be open and accessible to all community members. The south entrance (along North A Street) has an accessible ramp to the door. Once inside, there is a stairway of eight steps to the main level. On the left is a handrail, and on the right is a lift chair. The restroom on the main level is a private, single-person restroom, but is not wheelchair accessible. Until we can make permanent accessibility updates to our facility, we encourage those needing additional accommodations to reach out to our volunteer Events Manager, Lynn Knight at lynn@reidcenter.org or call 765-966-7618. We are eager to welcome you and will do everything we can to meet your accessibility needs.

This program is made possible in part with support from the Indiana Arts Commission, the Community Foundation of Randolph County, and donors like you.
