Reid Center LIVE! proudly presents a series of free concerts on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 12:00 noon, through May. On Wednesday, May 17th, we will be entertained by Rachel Spry Lammi, on our splendid Hook & Hastings pipe organ.
Ms. Lammi holds a Masters of Sacred Music degree from Duquesne University, where she studied with Dr. Ann Labounsky and David Craighead; a Bachelors in organ performance with a church music (voice emphasis) minor from Ball State University, where she studied with Dr. Kirby Koriath; and completed her theological studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.
A graduate of Tippecanoe High School, during her teens Rachel studied piano with Mary Thomas Blauser and organ with Phyllis Warner. As a singer, Rachel has sung with the Pittsburgh Compline Choir and Bach Society of Dayton. She is a published composer through The Organist Companion published by Wayne Leopold. As an organist, Rachel began playing professionally for church services at age fifteen. Having spent her early career in church director/organist combination positions, she made a conscious choice to move into collaborative organ posts. Rachel has served as organist at Kettering Seventh Day Adventist Church since 2016. She teaches private piano and organ lessons to all ages.
Rachel performs regularly in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. She is an active performing member of the Dayton Music Club. A colleague of the American Guild of Organists, Rachel is active in the Dayton chapter, where she serves on the board and chairs the Dayton Organ Academy. She is a Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, under call for Christian Education from The Southern Ohio Synod. Rachel lives in Vandalia with her husband, Rev. Kurt M. Lammi, daughter Rose, and their cat Wanda.
