ARTIST BIO: Madeleine Demetriades

Madeleine began musical studies at age six. Always having a wide interest in musical genres, she would obsessively play music by Jerry Lee Lewis, Duke Ellington and W.A. Mozart. She deeply enjoyed being in the jazz band in 9th grade and the orchestra from 6th grade through 12th grade. She thanks her parents for exposing her to a diverse array of music from an early age.

 She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, studying piano performance and French language. She won the “Performer of the Year” award in 2016 (the department’s highest honor) and was a finalist in Miami’s 2015 Undergraduate Artist Competition. She played with Miami University’s Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble and was the studio accompanist for the cello, viola and voice studios.

Madeleine has been Director of Music Ministries at Central United Methodist Church (Richmond, IN) since 2016. She greatly enjoys the diversity of her job duties, which include playing organ and piano on Sundays, directing the chancel choir and bell choir, and leading a children’s choir.

 She resides in Englewood, Ohio with her wonderful husband Alexander and their adorable pets: Mabel the dog and Gogol the cat.
